The Strongest Force on Earth

The Strongest Force On Earth
What if there was a force on Earth that could create an island in a matter of days æ and it was real! There is not very much that is known about mega plumes. What little is known, is that they are big, hot, violent, and explosive æ they are not something that you want to be around when they go off.
A mega plume is a natural occurrence at the bottom of an ocean. A huge fissure can open up, letting large amounts of lava up through the crust, from the mantle. There are normal places in the ocean where lava slowly oozes up, but this is not your average bubbling magma vent, mega plumes can stretch up to 70 km across the ocean floor! They reach temperatures up to 700 degrees Fahrenheit. This quick release of heat and energy causes water to rise, while the cooler water falls. Just like a tornado caused by lots of low-pressure air meeting high-pressure, large whirlpools underwater can form from mega plumes.
In December 5th, 2005, National Geographic explorers found a Mega plume at the bottom of the Indian Ocean. This giant submerged seismic activity scared many of the Indonesian and Malaysian people in the area. After the Tsunami in 2004, these people did not know what to expect. Although there was no thirty-foot high waves, a fissure about 70 km long opened up letting magma ooze up through the sea floor. This is one of the few known mega plumes; many of them are so deep in the ocean that they have not been discovered yet.
Mega plumes are not ordinary little bubbling cracks in the crust — they are enormous. They produce enough heat and magma to create a small island. They are very irregular. They are spaced much sparingly than a commonly found heat vent. Mega plumes can change the face of the earth, and maybe one day if a big enough one opens up, the whole atmosphere.
Mega plumes are large fissures in the ground usually caused by earthquakes. They are found only in the deepest parts of the ocean away from most forms of life. They are extremely big and can change the course of Earth. Mega plumes — possibly the strongest force on Earth.
